If you answered

"Serah Pochoir invented this printing process and it was named after her."

You're wrong! Sorry

Stephen Hazel (1935-2012) used pochoir in this print in the Ritchie Family Collection.

You may wonder, though, where I got this strange name for a fictional character, and what is the meaning of the word "pochoir".

The name Serah merely sounds similar to the word seri, which refers to silk - the fiber from which the old silk screens and their predecessors in Asian stencil printing (such as Kata-Gami) were made.

Pochoir is a simple stencil technique that is associated with greeting cards, folk art and interior decoration, such as stencils on walls, ceilings, floors, furniture, fabrics, etc. Incidentally, the word silk screen is misleading today because nylon and other fibers have replaced silk.

Try another choice.
