About Cathy Clemens: Cathy contacted me after she saw the Mini Etching Press in a workshop at Pencil Box Press, owned by Jo Van Arkel. She wanted a custom badge, too, the design for which she gave and which I rendered and etched in brass. having seen the earlier Legacy Halfwood Presses being tested, she asked for a test print, too. She teaches at Ozarks Technical Community College.
Above: Cathy photographed on July 4, 2014, when she tried her Mini Etching Press on her intaglio plate. She has applied three colors on the plate at one time. Her plate is aluminum, maybe 16-gauge, which requires a generous bevel so it will print with reasonable ease. The Mini's rollers are 1 1/2 inches in diameter, whereas traditional large presses have larger diameter rollers. Her paper, 90-lb Stonehenge, shows deep embossing.
