Specifications: Print. Relief, woodcut. Green, blue, black and ochre. Image 14 1/2" x 13 1/2" on 16 1/2" x 15" white Japanese paper. Signed lower right. Catalog No. pr650705ritB. Joe gave his print to the Tacoma Art Museum. Other impressions are in the collections of Margaret K. Sainio, M.D., Dr. Saul Schluger, Mrs. L. Roman, and the Ritchie Family. Others were sold at the International League sale, Footill College and from Bill's one-man show for the USIA in Turkey.
Artist comment: All that summer and autumn of 1965 in San Jose I tried to figure out how to get the color and feeling of Japanese woodblock printing. I added white to my oil-based inks. I didn't believe what the textbooks said: waterbase ink on the block and hand-rubbed!
