Bill Ritchie Work in the

Susan Ferrel & Lane Parks Collection

"Homage". Intaglio, relief, stencil copper and zinc plates printed ochre, black, orange, yellow and blue on white Japanese paper chine colle'd in an image area of 7 1/2 X 7 1/2 inches with script below on 14 1/4 X 9 3/4 inch buff Dutch Van Gelder Zonen. Signed and numbered 2/30 lower right of image.

Artist's statement: Script below image says: "Homage to Geoffrey, Stephen, and Rolf, to their artistry and technique, and to Albert Einstein, who, it is said, wrote: 'The state of mind which enables a man to do work of this kind is akin to that of the religious worshipper or lover. The daily effort comes from no deliberate intention or program, but straight from the heart.' The artist wishes to thank June K. Deist and Robert Pirsig." The names refer to Geoffrey Bowman, Stephen Hazel and Rolf Nesch, artists I regard as most influential as my printmaking teachers.
