Bill Ritchie design work in Washington State
in the
Pam Gibson Collection
"Ideogram 4 - III"
Provenance: 1966. Intaglio. Etching and drypoint on copper. Black ink on white. Image 6 1/4 X 4 3/4 in. on 8 X 6 3/8 in. Rives BFK. Impression number unknown. Signed lower right.
Comment: The microscopic world of living things under, in and around trees seems like a fitting combination for the needle-point fine lines attainable in etching on copper. The night-black tones you can get with aquatint add the to what appear to be mysteries of nature and printmaking effects. Also in the Lela Abravanel, Virginia Smith, and Ritchie Family Collections.
