About C. E. Licka: C. E. Licka, known to many as Sean, is an art historian in Anchorage, Alaska. He spent most of his teaching career at the University of Alaska, Anchorage, retiring as Professor Emeritus in 2017. When he was a student at the University Of Washington School of Art he met his future wife, the late Jeanne Ilgen, who was an MFA student in metal design. Not surprisingly, Dr. Licka wrote extensively about jewelry as miniature fine art sculpture.Ritchie's comment: I met Sean in the mid-1970's when he came to the UW School Of Art to work on his PhD in art history. He was interested in our work in video art and joined the class. Frankly it was a wonderment to me that an art history student would be interested in video experiments until I learned more about his thesis topic - the artist Joseph Cornell, known not only for his boxes and assemblage work but also for experimental film making.

About the Licka Collection: Perusing the Internet it seems that Sean came across my work by chance on one of my online gallery sites and sent an inquiry to me. Next came his purchase order for twenty-nine works on paper on the Ritchie family's Etsy site we call RitchieMiniArt.
