made before Ethan set up at his stall at the Pike Place Market.
Press specifications: Made in 2015. Mini Etching Press. Serial No. mep60027. Top and bottom rollers are 1.5 x 6 and 5.5 inches. The bed is 1/4 x 6 x 14.5 inch polycarbonate with steel rack; overall length is 15 inches; overall width is 9 inches; overall height is 10 inches; weight, about 13 lbs; hand-welded stainless steel drive wheel is 8 inches diameter. Bed is rack-driven, approximating a 3:1 mechanical advantage. Wood is solid American black walnut. Pressure screws are linked and synchronized. Includes two etching felts, user's manual and tools for assembly. The box was custom-made to fit the press and be suitable for mobility in market settings and Lind's logos were heat-transferred from laser prints.
Bill's comment: Ethan Lind dropped in one day in 2013 and described how he fixed up a rusty old etching press and was using it to show printmaking at the Seattle Center. We met off and on over the months, until we came up with idea of his being the Busker Etcher at the Pike Place Market in Seattle, entering in a strategic partnership to develop the Seattle Printmakers Center Incubators and Workplaces. Tom Kughler fixed up Ethan's first, old press, and I loaned him a Mini Etching Press to get started. In 2016 he bought the Mini Etching press and later upgraded.
