Artist's comment: Katherine saw a snapshot on Seattle’s Gage Academy website of Busker Etcher Ethan Lind using a Halfwood Press. She liked what she saw, and a YouTube video led to email and a phone call. She was eager to get the press into her new studio. As soon as it arrived she sent the hilarious photo, below: “My gorgeous [Pram Halfwood] printing press arrived today at school. I was so excited to see it work that I took a breather and relaxed while my lovely student print assistants printed my plate. Wow. Take a look at that impression.”
More about Katherine Liontas-Warren: As well as being an artist, Katherine is a Professor of Art at Cameron University in Lawton, Oklahoma. She earned her Master of Fine Art from Texas Tech University and a Bachelor of Science from Southern Connecticut. Awarded the Oklahoma Governor's Art and Education Award in Oklahoma in 2014 the Bhattacharya Research Excellence Award, she's also in the Faculty Hall of Fame at Cameron University. Katherine received the title of Artist of the Year by the Paseo Art Association in Oklahoma City and the Artist and Educator of the Year through the Lawton Arts and Humanities Council. She has received numerous purchase and juried awards and her works were in over 375 National Solo, Invitational and Juried Competitive Exhibitions throughout the US and abroad. Specifications: Made in 2015. Pram Halfwood Press. Serial No. 60124. Specifications: Rollers are 1.5 diameter, 6 and 5.5 inches long, top and bottom respectively. The bed is 1/4 x 6 x 17.5 inch polycarbonate (the standard) with steel rack; overall length is 17.5 inches; overall width is 9 inches; overall height is 10 inches; weight, about 14 lbs; drive wheel is 8 inches diameter in stainless steel. The bed is rack-driven, approximating a 3:1 mechanical advantage. Wood is solid American black walnut. The pressure screws are linked and synchronized. The press included two etching felts, user's manual, Allen wrenches with instructions.
