Pram Halfwood Press No. 105

Specifications: 2011. Pram Halfwood Press. Serial No. 60105. Specifications: Rollers are 1.5 x 6 and 5.5 inches top and bottom. The bed is 1/4 x 6 x 17.5 inch polycarbonate (the standard) with steel rack; overall length is 17.5 inches; overall width is 9 inches; overall height is 10 inches; weight, about 14 lbs; drive wheel is 8 inches diameter in stainless steel. The bed is rack-driven, approximating a 3:1 mechanical advantage. Wood is solid American black walnut. The pressure screws are linked and synchronized. The press included two etching felts, user's manual and DVD plus a PressGhost flash drive and USB extension cable for connecting to a computer. These are inside a handmade, paper-covered box.

Comment: Peter called a couple times in September and October. He'd just got back from Czechslovakia where he worked with a printmaker there, and was enthused to continue with what he had learned. His plan, he said, was to make drypoint illustrations for a book commemorating his times with Bill Monroe.

The active and passive sides of Legacy Mini Halfwood No. 99

Specifications: 2012. Mini Halfwood Press. Serial No. 60099. Rollers are 1.5 x 5.75 inches top and bottom. The bed is 1/4 x 6 x 17 inch polycarbonate (the standard); overall length is 17.5 inches; overall width is 9 inches; overall height is 10 inches; weight, about 14 lbs; drive wheel is 8 inches diameter in stainless steel; the woods are black walnut base and Brazilian ipe cladding on steel, with black walnut, holly, ebony and cocobolo on the hood-ends and capping the flat top. The instrument box is poplar trimmed in ipe, cocobolo and paduk. Included are felt blankets, copper plate, Allen Wrench, User's Manual, CD PressGhost and DVD.

Comment: Peter decided to get two Halfwoods - the Pram (above) and a Legacy Mini Halfwood. A world traveler, he's been looking at prints at every opportunity and now to make prints is his next artistic move. Peter's Web site is: http://www.peter-rowan.com/
