Artist statement: "It was a time when events around the world were pressing in on me, such as our growing awareness of the possibility of our own extinction. My love of nature, and all living things that share Earth, focused on endangered species. How can an artist respond to the crying need for environmental education? Who knows? Maybe the mere use of the gorgeous decoration on one animal's appearance will assist in preventing its disappearance."
