But you were warm. Bill read Zen and the Art of Archery, and later an observant friend and mentor, Stephen Hazel, commented:

"You ARE the target."

Over the years Bill thought a lot about that. Also you will see many examples of artworks using the target image, such as in Jasper Johns and Marcel DuChamp. You'll also see, occasionally, the target-heart image, too, in others' works, in cartoons and in illustrations.
