If you fell for this question, it's because "locus" sounds like "locust", a grasshopper-like bug.

You might also have been fooled because you know the artist got his start in art from trees, and there is a tree called a locust. You might also have thought about a plate he etched and titled arborescence, a word rooted in the word arbor, or tree.
