Wolf Vostell Video in Ghent
- Belgium. . Ghent. 5/9/83. Early on a Sunday morning, Ghent's
Museum van Hedendaagse Kunst opened for a view of "Boost",
a videotape by Wolf Vostell, and here's an optical dub of most
of his tape. It featured a soprano soloist, a dog, a piano keyboard,
a tree, a jackhammer, and a zoom lens.
- Not only is it surprising to find video in out-of-the-way
places, but to find museums open at such times as early on Sunday
morning was just as remarkable. 19:00 Min. SA830509
A Computer De-installation in Ghent
- Belgium. . Ghent. 5/9/83. A "talking chin" video
recording, from being sly while capturing the words of artists
Peter Beyls and Rudi Blondia, who were undoing their thing in
the Museum Van Hedendaagse Kunst. It was a computer-controlled
environmental installation, consisting of audio synthesis and
interactive, chance-determined modulation.
- Without some means of being in touch with local media, special
events or installations in the art museums posed a problem for
the traveler due to their temporary nature. Long-running tapes
or traditional gallery displays were easier for the traveler to
catch. 4:00 Min. SA830510
