Marianne Heske's Show and Video
- Norway. . Oslo. 6/2/83. Marianne Heske is, at the time
of this videotape recording, one of two artists using video in
connection with other art forms in Oslo. She does this work in
London and Paris. This videotape was made on a visit to her one-woman
show at the Galleri Kampen in Oslo, and includes an optical dub
of some scenes from her videotapes.
- Oslo was the northernmost point of the travels of the Ritchie
World Travelers. Melbourne, Australia, was the southernmost. At
both points on the globe it was found that print is the mature
form of the media arts; video is being used by artists at both
the northernmost and southernmost places. Computer art? Only in
a few places between. 3:00 Min. SA830601
Kunstnernshaus: View of Studio
- Norway. . Oslo. 6/2/83. Testimony to the maturity of
print making: studios for the art and craft of hand-made prints
are almost identical everywhere around the world; this includes
the way they are funded and managed. The recording of this one
on videotape is very short; this is a testimony of another kind:
the videographer, Bill Ritchie, is getting bored with taping of
studios!
- Two things become increasingly clear: the printmaking studios
resemble one another not only in the kinds of space and equipment
there, but also in the fact that most of the time they are not
being used for much of anything. Recurrent shots of vitality are
needed, such as special exhibits or competitions, commissions,
workshops, or recruitment of newcomers, tourists, or educational
services to the community. 1:00 Min. SA830602
