A Professor's SPEACON Workshop

In 2004, if you had a snapshot of the gallery and studio at SPEACON, this is what you would see. The professor is lining up the brass plate (made of wood) that will cover the gears in the wood mockup of his first Halfwood press, the Century.

In 2007, if you visited again, you'd find the studio with almost as many presses as artworks. Some of the 30+ people who have bought them say that the Halfwood Presses ARE artworks. In the snapshot the professor is shaping the wood on a 12" press.
In 2008, Lynda popped in with her new camera and the Professor showed her around and she made a 2-minute videotape for YouTube.

Maybe making presses is a long way from public speaking, consulting and teaching, but for the professor's planned hybrid online printmaking art course, he may need to include a section telling how to make an intaglio press besides how to use it.
