1965 - Tree with Yellow, Pink

The plate was by the reduction cutting technique, meaning that each color was printed from one linoleum block which was cut and then printed, cut and printed continuously until the last color was done. This is different than most printmaking, where there’s a separate block for each color. Reduction printing limits the edition to the number set by the first printing--in this instance, the yellow ochre color. There were only five impressions. The print is a linoleum cut printed on white Asian paper: Colors are ochre, pink, beige, green and black. The original image is 20 1/2" X 15". The stamp was made from No. 5 of 5, which is inscribed "To Jane", one of our daughters.
