1976 - Homage

The script below the image says: "Homage to Geoffrey, Stephen, and Rolf, to their artistry and technique, and to Albert Einstein, who, it is said, wrote: 'The state of mind which enables a man to do work of this kind is akin to that of the religious worshipper or lover. The daily effort comes from no deliberate intention or program, but straight from the heart.' The artist wishes to thank June K. Deist and Robert Pirsig." The names refer to Geoffrey Bowman, Stephen Hazel and Rolf Nesch, artists I regard as very influential printmaking teachers. The original is printed intaglio, relief, and I used a stencil, too. Copper and zinc plates are ochre, black, orange, yellow and blue on white Japanese paper chine colle'd. The image is 7 1/2" X 7 1/2" with photo-etched script below on 14 1/4" X 9 3/4" buff Dutch VGZ.
